[Project Background]

Infrastructure Expansion for a New Residential Community

The Arcadia residential development in Tamworth required the extension of the existing water and sewer networks to support future population growth. Tamworth Regional Council initiated the project to deliver new trunk infrastructure connecting the development precinct to the town’s existing utility systems.

[Scope Of Works]
Operating in Sensitive and Live environments

Construction of new supply infrastructure improving water pressure, emergency flows, and network resilience across West Wyalong.

Installation of gravity sewer pipelines ranging from DN300 to DN450
Construction of precast sewer maintenance holes and associated structures
Microtunnelling beneath active rail infrastructure using welded steel casing pipes
Installation and commissioning of trunk water and wastewater infrastructure

[Outcome / Key Features]
Integrated Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Delivery
Outcome
  • Installation of 1.45km ductile iron cement-lined (DICL) water main
  • Construction of 1.28km gravity sewer pipeline across multiple diameters (DN300–DN450)
  • Installation of 14 precast sewer manholes with cast-in-situ bases
  • Network integration through connections to the existing Tamworth Regional Council infrastructure
  • Testing, commissioning and system verification including CCTV inspection and hydrostatic testing
Key Features
  • Micro-tunnelling installation beneath an active railway corridor using DN750 steel casing and DN450 PP carrier pipe
  • Installation of pipelines beneath high-voltage underground power infrastructure with protective concrete slab separation
  • Open-cut installation across road corridors with RMS-compliant reinstatement works
  • Construction of sewer pipelines at minimal grades to optimise gravity flow performance
  • Coordinated delivery within live infrastructure corridors including rail, power, and road assets
[Environmental Responsibility]
Managing construction within sensitive infrastructure corridors
Construction works were delivered within active infrastructure corridors including rail, road, and underground power networks. Environmental and safety controls were implemented throughout the project to manage excavation works, protect surrounding assets, and ensure safe delivery of the new infrastructure.
