As part of the Stage 2 upgrade of The Northern Road between Narellan and Penrith, Sydney Water required the installation of a new trunk water main to replace and integrate with the existing system. The broader road project formed part of the $3.6 billion Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan, a joint NSW and Commonwealth Government initiative designed to upgrade critical transport infrastructure across the region.
The project was classified as Critical State Significant Infrastructure (CSSI), requiring coordinated delivery between the road upgrade program and the installation of the new Sydney Water trunk main. Killard’s scope was delivered within a tightly controlled corridor alongside active road construction, ensuring the pipeline installation aligned with scheduled shutdowns and network connections.
