SPS BU8 Emergency Storage Tank

Delivering emergency wastewater storage infrastructure and associated pipeline upgrades for Wingecarribee Shire Council.
Wingecarribee Shire Council
Bundanoon, New South Wales

Reservoir & Tank Installation

[Project Background]

Strengthening Wastewater Network Resilience

Wingecarribee Shire Council initiated upgrades to the SPS BU8 pump station to improve operational resilience and emergency storage capacity within the sewer network.

The project involved installing a new emergency storage tank alongside upgrades to the existing sewer rising main to improve reliability and system performance.

[Outcome / Key Features]
Emergency Storage Infrastructure Delivered for Sewer Network
Outcome
  • Installation of 200kL concrete emergency storage tank in accordance with AS 3735 standards
  • Construction of DN125 HDPE sewer rising main pipeline (approx. 1km)
  • Installation of vent stack and valve infrastructure associated with the storage system
  • Integration of new infrastructure with the existing pump station and treatment plant network
Key Features
  • Installation of aluminium access covers for tank maintenance and safety access
  • Construction of associated manholes and valve pits
  • Pipeline installation delivered using open trenching and HDD methodologies
  • Extensive quality assurance including pressure testing, soil compaction testing and structural verification
  • Implementation of erosion and sediment control measures to protect nearby waterways
  • Environmental protection measures including tree protection zone (TPZ) management
[Environmental Responsibility]
Protecting surrounding waterways and landscapes
Environmental controls were implemented throughout construction to protect nearby creeks and sensitive vegetation areas. Sediment and erosion control systems, along with careful management of tree protection zones, ensured minimal environmental impact during works.
