[Project Background]

Modernising an Aging Water Network

The existing water reticulation system across the Goulburn Mulwaree LGA had reached the later stages of its operational life, with aging pipes contributing to leaks, bursts, and ongoing water loss. These challenges affected network reliability and increased operational costs for the Council.

To address these issues, Goulburn Mulwaree Council initiated a long-term infrastructure renewal program focused on replacing aging components, improving system performance, and ensuring the network could meet future service demands. Following a competitive procurement process, Killard was awarded a three-year contract to deliver the renewal program, later extended by an additional two years in recognition of successful delivery and continued performance.

Replacement of deteriorated AC and CICL pipelines with modern PVC, DICL, and Poly pipelines
Installation delivered through open-cut construction and trenchless methods including HDD, bed boring and micro-tunnelling
Hydrostatic pressure testing and disinfection of newly installed mains prior to network integration
Isolation of existing network sections and transfer of house service connections onto newly installed pipelines
