West Wyalong Augmentation Project
Project Background
Goldenfields Water Country Council upgrade to the West Wyalong Water System to improve water pressure during peak demand periods and to ensure adequate flows and pressure are available to emergency services. The upgrade included construction of a new dedicated supply pipeline from Goldfields Way to Temora terminal reservoir, a new transfer pump station from Wyalong terminal reservoir to a new standpipe reservoir and the renewal of an existing water reticulation main.

DN300 Supply Main Pipeline – 7.6km PVC Pipeline that runs around the outside of Wyalong to fill the new reservoir that is being constructed. Overall job included 4 x RMS Under Bores, 1 x UGL Rail Under Bore, 2 x Creek Crossings, reticulation Main – 5.1km of PVC Pipework.
Connections to existing Infrastructure.
Renewal of all house services connected to the existing main, main to meter including the meter.
Outcome / Key Features
Killard as a Principal Contractor developed a detailed approach for communication, consulting, notifying and handling complaints with the community and external stakeholders. Killard identified and managed all potential issues associated with the approval process for the RMS, Rail and Creek crossings. We prepared a detailed construction method statement, and proactively managed the communication with key external stakeholders in a timely manner. Critical crossing works were able to be completed in time as per the program. In addition, Killard implemented the following mitigation measures to minimise impacts on the local community: timely notice sent to directly and indirectly impacted residents, water carts used for dust suppression as required, door knocking to nearby residents.
