Water, Our Focus
Project Background
The Wamuran Irrigation Scheme will take Class A recycled water from the Caboolture South Wastewater Treatment Plant to farms for irrigation, ensuring a sustainable future for the growing regional population while reducing the nutrient discharge into the Caboolture River, with 11 tonnes of nitrogen and 1.8 tonne of phosphorus being diverted away from the river in the first stage alone.

Scope Of Works
Killard supported Pensar in the delivery of the transfer line, distribution line and Processing pipelines for the Wamuran Irrigation Scheme.
The Killard functions involved planning, resourcing and delivery of all pipelines to these areas. The installation covered multiple components and product types including PE pipes, Ductile Iron Pipes, Mild Steel Cement Line Pipes and Concrete pipes ranging in size from DN355 trough to DN 800mm to a length of up to 17 kilometres.
Killard pressure tested all pipelines as required by Unitywater specifications.
Outcome / Key Features
Killard’s scope included the implementation of stringent environmental protocols due to the works undertaken near local environmentally sensitive waterways and creeks, lakes and wetlands, and the presence of Acid Sulphate soils and asbestos contaminated soils.
The pipeline was installed through rural areas but also through challenging built-up areas such as in the proximity of Caboolture Hospital.
Interface management with businesses and residents while trenching the roads to install the pipeline.
Project overall Quality Assurance procedures, including strict HDPE weld testing, were prepared by Killard and signed off by Unitywater’s superintendent.
