Project Background
Sydney Water Board approved the strategic option to link Prospect South Water Distribution System (WDS) to Macarthur WDS which is required to transfer up to 120 ML/day of drinking water between the systems. The proposed link will provide trunk drinking water infrastructure to service growth within the South West Growth Area (SWGA), Western Sydney Aerotropolis Growth Area (WSAGA), Liverpool CBD and Menangle Park.

Scope Of Works
KiIlard Infrastructure were engaged by Sydney Water in January 2021 to self-perform and deliver as a Principal Contractor, the critical 4.5 kilometres of DN600, DN750, DN1050 and DN1250 steel pipelines from Range Rd in Cecil Park to Western Rd in Kemps Creek.
The following items were part of the project:

- Installation of SINTAKOTE and SINTALOCK pipelines welded in situ.
- Removal of non-friable asbestos soil.
- Installation of cathodic protection.
- Installation and commissioning of a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV), associated flowmeter and electrical connections.
- Installation of the pipeline in residential areas, including critical crossings of RMS roads.
- Installation of the pipeline across two creeks up to a depth of 6 metres.
- Coordination with community, stakeholders, Liverpool City Council, RMS, Jemena, Kemps Creek School, Brandown Quarry, Sydney Metro, etc.
- Spoil Management.
- Connections to existing network.
Outcome / Key Features
Complete self-perform by KiIlard Infrastructure crews and plant of the entire project. Management of complex community challenges; including School Zones, working outside of standard hours, access to private properties for pipeline installation. Environmental management of crossing sensitive creeks and managing the works in an area infested with the Phytophthora pathogen.
Killard was awarded the best contractor of entire program in the months of January to April 2021. Works ahead of the schedule. Promac Contractor Excellence Award received for the second time (April -October 2021).
