Project Background
Lendlease Building were engaged by BaptistCare (NSW) to design and construct affordable housing across several sites in NSW under a NSW Government Initiative. The site, 8-12 Kings Rd, Five Dock, NSW 2046 is located within the Canada Bay Council Local Government Area.
To service the apartments buildings the potable water, stormwater and High Voltage power were required to be upgraded and connected into existing infrastructure along Kings Rd and Great North Rd.

Scope Of Works
Lendlease Building appointed Killard Infrastructure as their utility contractor to carry out the works. The scope of works was as follows:
3 x Power pole relocations with Ausgrid, Telstra, Optus and Foxtel assets.
Electrical Works: Supply, install and commission new 150 metres of High Voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure between existing HV conduits along Great North Rd and a new substation on the site. The works were coordinated with Ausgrid and Webb Australia.
Stormwater Works: Supply and installation 90 metres of a new 375mm diameter stormwater line in Kings Rd between the site and the existing pit near Great North Rd.
Potable Water Main Works: Supply and installation 120 metres of a new DN150 DICL line from a DN300 main line in great North Road and connection onto the existing DN100 line in front of the site.
Pavement Works: Reinstatement of the various pavement surfaces disturbed during the works to the satisfaction of the relevant authority (Canada Bay Council and RMS) were coordinated and managed by Killard Infrastructure. The works included asphalt, kerb & gutter, footpaths and pavers.
Outcome / Key Features

- All the works were delivered at night due to the impact that they would have on the local traffic if delivered during the day.
- Noise monitoring was carried out by Killard personnel, and all the high noise activities were finished by 10pm.
- Extensive potholing was carried out by Killard’s team to make sure that no design clashes were appearing after trenching works.
- Coordination with Canada Bay Council, RMS, Ausgrid and Sydney Water was done by Killard’s Project Management team.
- Challenging connections to the existing Ausgrid and Sydney Water inside a TfNSW intersection (Great North Road).
- Final restoration to the satisfaction of TfNSW and Council.
