Project Background
Unitywater’s program of works will provide essential water and wastewater services for the growing Aura and Harmony communities on the Sunshine Coast. With a projected population of 69,000 residents in Aura by 2056 and 20,000 residents in Harmony by 2026, this program is vital in meeting future demands of the communities, ensuring their long-term sustainability and development. Unitywater is committed to delivering sustainable and reliable infrastructure that will improve the network’s overall reliability, meet water and wastewater demand for its customers and deliver significant benefits to the growing region. The Harmony Water Project includes constructing a new water resevoir at Tanawha and installatio of 2.6KM of new water pipeline from the reservoir to Harmony in Palmview.

Scope Of Works
Killard are supporting Unitywater’s main contractor McConnell Dowell to deliver the earthworks for the Harmony Reservoir and the open trench construction of the new water pipeline. Killard functions involve planning, resourcing and construction of the Harmony earthworks and the Harmony water pipeline. The earthworks are being undertaken in environmentally sensitive areas and Killard are implementing all environmental and sediment controls to these areas in conjunction with the bulk earthworks. The installation involves 2.6KM of new water pipelines from the reservoir to Harmony in Palmview. The pipes are Ductile Iron and Mild Steel Cement Lined ranging in size from DN450 through to DN600. Killard is also commissioning the pipelines as required by Unitywater specifications, connecting to existing Unitywater assets. Killard’s scope includes the implementation of stringent environmental protocols due to the works undertaken near local environmentally sensitive waterways and creeks.
Outcome / Key Features

- Installation of the pipeline through a new retirement village.
- Restoration to Council and Unitywater standards including driveways, footpaths, kerbs, asphalt, turf and hydroseeding.
- Installation of the pipeline up to 4 metres deep with the required Temporary Works and shoring.
- Quality Assurance to the requirements of Unitywater and the Superintendent on the project.
- Community management in a very sensitive location.
